Dark Orchids
About
Paul Brennan, a journalist working for the US State Department, is drawn into the dangerous world of South American drug smuggling when he meets the wife of a wealthy head of a drug cartel. Captivated by the seductive but tormented Gabriella, he is ordered to travel to Colombia by Mango, his State Dept. contact, who leads him into a world of danger and deception. Although never sure of Gabriella's loyalty, Brennan falls deeper in love with her when she agrees to work with him to stop her husband from destroying her family. Torn between passion and responsibility, the lovers find solace in each other as they struggle to remain alive in the chaotic turmoil surrounding them.
Praise for this book
South America drug dealers, State Department operators exploiting an American reporter and the seamy side of poverty in major cities and rural regions of Latin America blend with a back story of dark romance that takes the reader to a disturbing world far away. A whirlwind journey through many of these exotic locations sets the mood for our reporter falling into an unexpected and life changing encounter with a woman who lores him into danger beyond his expectations and experience, kept this reader wondering about the outcome from start to finish. The intriguing story also reflects a strong and skilled writerly style and hopefully will be seen again often from this talented new author. I look forward to more from Ms. Etter!
